Frequently asked questions

Is a trade licence the same as Shop and Establishment registration?

No. Shop and Establishment registration is under the state labour law. A trade licence comes from the municipal body and covers the trade carried on at the premises. Many businesses need both.

Do I need it for an office-only business?

It depends on the city and category. Some cities exempt pure office use while others do not. We check before you pay any fee.

How long is it valid?

Most cities issue it for one year with annual renewal. Some allow longer periods on payment of advance fees.
